History of Night of Stars (1995 - 2007)

The Beginning...

Night of Stars began as a salute to the Orthopaedic & Arthritic Hospital (O&A) for 40 years of outstanding services to the community. Evolving through the interest of producer Ross Petty, the inaugural event took place on April 10, 1995. The star-studded show included Canadian talents Jackie Richardson, Camilla Scott, Gisele Fredette and Joey Hollingsworth, amongst others. The night raised more than $44,000 and had over 450 attendees.

1999

Following on the success of the first event, a second Night of Stars was held in 1999 and included artists Micheal Burgess, Karen Kain, Amy Walsh and Susan Henley, amongst others. Over 700 attendees helped to raise over $150,000 in support of the Research and Education Fund of the O&A.

2001 & 2004

The success of the event continued with a Night of Stars in 2001, raising over $280,000 and again in 2004 raising over $450,000. Talent included Rex Harrington, John McDermott, The Nylons, Red Green and magician David Ben.

2007

The last Night of Stars, held in 2007, raised over $700,000 in support of the Holland Orthopaedic & Arthritic Centre. Stars including Mary Walsh, Louise Pitre, Sheila McCarthy and Colin Mochrie performed in front of over 1,500 guests.
